God's Call For Your Life!!!

Today I want you to take a step back with me, all the way back to high school. It was my junior year and I had been pressed from every side about which college I was to attend. I remember looking at several universities, going to fairs, hearing about how important a decision it was, and thinking that if I chose the wrong path at this juncture in my life I might never fully measure up to my full potential. I remember praying, asking for God’s guidance as to which Baptist school I would go to. Today I wonder if it would have mattered if I went to OBU, HPU, MHBU, A&M or UT. Granted, I know I would have had different professors, different friends, and different experiences. Overall I wonder if my pursuit of God’s will was centered in the right area.

God has a calling for every man. God has a plan for every person. What I am learning in life is that God’s plan is more than just a destination, it’s a way of life on the way to that destination.

In the past couple of days, we have seen that God has called certain men to certain tasks, and we have seen that the aim of the Christian life is sanctification. Today I want you to see that God has a calling for your life and that it is your faithful service to him.

1 Corinthians 1:2
To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours

There are times when God calls us to certain tasks. God may be working on a person’s heart and have prepared you with the gospel of peace to speak to it. God often gives us that specific call, but often we so focus on the specific call that we ignore his greater call.

God has called you a saint and called you to be a saint.

In that he has called you a saint we must realize that as our righteousness is found in him, our sainthood is not upon our good works, but upon his righteousness. There is no hierarchy in the Christian faith. Paul who was called to be an apostle would also call himself the chief of sinners. We are saints because we magnify the righteousness of Jesus Christ the true Righteous One.

Not only has he called us saints, but we are called to be saints as well. For God, the college I went to probably mattered less than my witness while I was there. When you look through scripture you see less on God determining circumstances and more on how Christians thrive through those circumstances. God’s calling for you today is to use the gifts he has given you in His ministry. It is to be a saint who bears the image of His Son to a world that desperately needs a savior.

Go live God’s calling for your life… Go Be A Saint.
